a story of two children

He was a skinny boy with a shy smile and hair that hung over his face. He was timid and weak and he hung out with the girls because boys scared him.
She looked like a dyke with her crew-cut hair and her baggy clothes. She had a big mouth and swinging fists, and she screamed so that she wouldn't cry.
He was silent and timid and he took whatever was given to him.
She wouldn't back-down, she wouldn't quit, and she wouldn't submit to anyone.

He was running up the hill of blowing green grass. He was nearing the top, and the sun poured light over the edge of the hill, lighting the tips of grass on fire.  He pretended that he was free. He pretended he was flying. He pretended he had never been touched by anything but the sun-rays.
But he wasn't free, his feet still touched the ground, and the sun-rays couldn't shine on where he had been touched.

He had dark hair and darker eyes and a wide innocent smile.
He laughed often, smiled all the time, and never cried.
He was a weak boy with a soft body and he bruised easily
He was quiet and distant but he always obeyed and never resisted.


She was a ghost and she never quite felt fully alive. Life was a joke that told her she didn't really exist, that she was a figment of her own imagination. She didn't know how to feel alive unless she was dancing on a tip of a knife. Every word she said had to hit like a blow and every touch she received had to be raw. She couldn't receive love and she was a sucker for negative attention. She threw herself around like a whore just so that she could feel like one. Just so she could feel.
Her moto in life was:

"I'll hold my breath until I learn how to breathe
I'll sink until I learn how to swim
I'll run until I learn how to be still
I'll keep my eyes open until I learn how to close them
I'll sink so low I'll have to fly."
And she lived it every second.
